About Us

With the goal of bringing my unique background, experience and perspective 
to strengthen the world of talent management, I founded Strategic Talent Advisors Inc.

Rebecca Schalm, Ph.D., ICD.D
Founder & Advisor

Rebecca holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and has assisted organizations for over 25 years in building talent capability that enables business strategy.  Prior to founding Strategic Talent Advisors Inc., she was SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer of Finning International Inc., a $7B public company and the world's largest Caterpillar sales and service organization.  While at Finning, she built and led a global team to develop and implement a unified talent strategy, drove a sustainable culture transformation, re-aligned organizational structure and talent to support business strategy, and supported the board through a CEO succession process.  She joined Finning after over 10 years consulting with premiere international management psychology firm, RHR International LLP.  While at RHR International she founded and led the global executive selection & integration practice and is regarded as an expert on the topic of leadership transition.  Her extensive experience includes providing consulting services to senior leaders and boards of directors in the areas of executive selection, transition and leadership development, executive succession and talent management, CEO succession, and senior team development.  Her clients have included a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit organizations in Canada, the US, South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

In addition to her experience working with and for corporate boards, Rebecca has held a number of board positions in the profit and not-for-profit sector.  She is currently on the national board of the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  She is an active member in a number of professional organizations, including the Institute of Corporate Directors and achieved her ICD.D. designation in 2016.  

Rebecca is a thought leader on the topics of talent, leadership and organizational effectiveness and her articles have been widely published.  She publishes a monthly HR column for Troy Media.   Throughout her career, she has challenged the status quo and has established a reputation as a champion and leader of positive change.

Consulting Resources.  I will draw in senior, like-minded and highly skilled consultants as required and approved by you to provide the best possible service.
Advisory Board.  To support me and the work of the organization, I draw on the counsel of a select group of advisors who offer depth of experience in corporate, board and human resources leadership, executive talent search, selection and development.
